Heading into Kindergarten is an exciting time for children, and it’s often the first time they will be formally assessed. It can feel like there’s a lot of unknowns when it comes to getting your future student into their ideal school.Â
That’s why we’ve created mock playgroups, designed to simulate the real evaluation experience — so you can see what admissions counselors will look for and you and your child can feel confident and prepared before the big day.Â

Your child will join a 75-minute, in-person mock playgroup with 4-5 other children. They will think they are just playing, but while they do they will be evaluated by an early education specialist. They’ll have a great time and you’ll walk away with:
- A clear sense of how your child presents in a formal assessment
- Insight into their developmental strengths and growth areas
Recommendations for next steps in the admissions process
After the session, you’ll receive a top-line skills assessment based on our observations and areas of strength and development.
The Process Is Simple
Attending a mock playgroup gives your child an edge, by reducing the fear of the unknown, and gives you expert guidance for what comes next.
Each 75-minute session includes:
- Open play observation to assess social and emotional development
- Small group activity (like a read-aloud) to gauge listening, comprehension, and group dynamicsÂ
- 1:1 academic skill assessment aligned with target school expectations
- Additional support services for 1:1 guidance can be purchased anytime after your mock playgroup experience.
