We hope that our children are attending great schools packed with concerned, passionate, and attentive teachers, and that when they come home from school, they are able to reach into their backpacks, pull out the day’s homework, and complete the assignment with confidence. If that scenario sounds like a pipe dream, you are not alone. Sometimes our children struggle and need support neither you nor their regular teacher can provide. This is where tutoring steps in to fill the void.

If you grew up anywhere but New York City, the elaborate, time-consuming, and complicated process of getting your child into nursery school, middle school, or high school can seem absurdly complex: interviews, letters of recommendation, testing – none of which was required of me until I was applying to college. This process tracks with the acknowledged truth about living in New York City: things are tougher, but the rewards are bigger. NYC, the boroughs, New Jersey, and Connecticut are full of world-class schools, each with its own unique philosophy, campus, and culture.

Finding, applying to, and getting into a best-fit school doesn’t have to be a headache of an experience, but an

There are academics to learn, professors to connect with, friends to make, social calendars to keep, arts and athletics to pursue, health to maintain, and careers to pursue. The more we can empower young people to have the experience which involves using strategies to accomplish tasks of all kinds, the more we will see them thrive and learn well. This book aims to provide a base of strategy for the common responsibilities that college students have; however, I leave room for students and learning specialists to create and respond to an ever-evolving higher educational landscape.

Evolved Education Integrated Executive Function Coaching Model

Executive Functioning is cognitive flexibility, working memory, and inhibition. These functions are carried out primarily in the frontal cortex of the brain. They are developed from birth through young adulthood.

I have springboarded a practical process that I call “Evolved Education’s Integrated Executive Function Coaching Model.” Simply put, this method integrates not only executive functioning and cognitive psychology academic research but also integrates the student’s learning experiences, assessment, as well as strategies taught. Since it aligns with academic research and leaves room for new research to affect it, I believe this model can evolve with us as our field continues to develop. Maybe more branches will form, but the foundation here is strong and I am excited to see where it takes my
students, the students at Evolved Education, and your students!
