college admissions consulting • 9th grade through 12th Grade decisions

Best-fit placement. A competitive application file. A plan that builds over time.

Evolved Education Company offers college admissions consulting for students in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Florida primarily, although we can work with students in any school system including international. We help each student find the college and course of study that fit them, and build an authentic application file well before senior year begins.

WHERE FAMILIES ARE WHEN THEY REACH OUT

Where families are when they reach out

  • “We want to start early, but we’re not sure what matters in 9th grade.” We map where your student stands today and what to build first.
  • “Our student is aiming for highly selective colleges.” APP MAP, our admissions method, shows how each college will read your student’s application file. Projective Education Consulting supports your student’s genuine growth toward the colleges they are reaching for, so the file reflects real development, not just a polished snapshot.
  • “Our student has interests but isn’t sure what to study.” Assessments and conversation turn interests into a direction and a list.
  • “We want a list built on fit, not rankings.” Every college on the list is anchored in your student’s criteria.
  • “Junior year is here, and we want a clear plan for applications.” We build the list, the essays, and the strategy, with every deadline in view.
  • “Our student learns differently, and we want a plan that fits how they learn.” We plan for accommodations, testing, and support programs from the start.
  • “We live outside the New York area.” We work with students in any school system, including internationally.

Wherever your student is today, we start with who they are.

Our approach

Your student’s list, application, and strategy, built together.

The application file informs your student’s criteria, the criteria anchor the list, and the list shows which parts of the file to develop next. Each stage ends with something you can hold.

1. Best-fit placement starts with criteria.
We begin by getting to know your student. Intake conversations, assessments such as MindPrint, Career Liftoff, and 16Personalities, and a close review of the six parts of their application file show us who they are and where they are headed. From there, we develop three sets of criteria together: what your student needs, what your family values, and what each college looks for. Every school on the list is anchored in those criteria.

You receive: a starting map of where your student stands today in all six parts, with first steps for each.

2. The six parts, developed with purpose.
Starting in 9th grade, we help each student develop all six parts of the application file. The criteria and the list show which parts to build next, so each step has a reason behind it.

  • Transcript. What you take, how well you do, and how much you challenge yourself.
  • Extracurriculars & Experience. Leadership, awards, jobs, service, and research. Depth over breadth, with clear connections to the colleges on your list.
  • Standardized Testing. SAT, ACT, and AP: where you stand and where you’re headed.
  • Recommendations. How you show up in your communities, in and out of class.
  • Writing. Your voice, and the experiences worth writing about.
  • Institutional Priorities. How you connect to what each college values, including the factors colleges report in their Common Data Set and any recruiting opportunities.

You receive: a six-part plan with goals for each part, reviewed with you each quarter, and developed essays, a personal statement and supplements written in your student’s own voice.

3. A list and a strategy that grow over time.
As the file develops, we revisit the criteria and refine the list. With both in view, we build the strategy: which colleges, in what order, in which decision round (Early Decision, Early Action, or Regular Decision), and what to strengthen before each deadline.

You receive: a balanced college list of likely, target, and reach schools, each with a clear reason it fits your student, and finished applications to up to 20 colleges, submitted on time, with a strategy for each decision round.

You will always know what we are working on, what has changed since we last met, and what comes next.

Assessment options

Three diagnostics, depending on what you need to know.

Every family in our College Starter Series completes one. Many add the second and third. We help you decide which fits. We read the results with you so the data turns into a plan.

Mindprint Learning Assessment

Cognitive profile & test fit

A neuroscience-based assessment of memory, attention, processing speed, reasoning, and executive functioning. We use it to predict ACT vs. SAT fit, surface hidden learning strengths, and design a study plan that matches how your child actually thinks.

  • ~1 hour, taken at home
  • ACT/SAT fit analysis included
  • Family debrief Zoom with our team

Career Liftoff

Interests, values & major fit

An interest and aptitude inventory that maps a student to specific majors, career paths, and the college environments that support them. Especially useful when “I don’t know what I want to study” is getting in the way of building a real list.

  • ~45 minutes, taken at home
  • Major and career match report
  • Used to shape college list strategy

Personalities

Personality, strengths and work style

A personality inventory that describes how a student takes in information, makes decisions, and works with others. Especially useful when a student wants words to describe themselves in an essay or interview and isn’t sure where to start.

  • ~12 minutes, taken at home
  • Personality type and strengths profile
  • Used to shape essays, interviews, and the Anchor in each APP MAP

Questions

When should we begin college consulting?

Many families start in 9th or 10th grade with the College Starter Series. That leaves time to build each part of the application file. Families who start later can begin the Full College Consulting Package in the winter of junior year.

How many colleges should my student apply to?

It depends on the student. We build a balanced list of likely, target, and reach schools. Our Full College Consulting Package supports up to 20 colleges.

What is the common data set?

The Common Data Set is a report many colleges publish each year. Section C7 shows how much weight a college gives to factors such as course rigor, grades, essays, recommendations, and activities. We use it to understand what each college values.

Do you work with students who learn differently?

We work with neurotypical and neurodivegent students. We plan for accommodations, testing and suport programs when they matter to your student.
