Heading into the new school year, parents can support their child’s readiness for the upcoming grade in a multitude of ways. We will discuss ways to set your child up for success in Kindergarten both academically and social/emotionally.
Topics will include:
- What your child should know going into Kindergarten
- Skills to practice with your child prior to the start of the year
- Tools to support your child’s learning throughout the summer and into the school year
- Ways to continue supporting your child once the school year begins

Teaching Kindergarten for the past three years at a charter school in Brooklyn, Hallie has experience teaching Reading, Writing, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Phonics. Within the classroom, Hallie combines whole group instruction, along with small group and one-on-one teaching to ensure each student successfully masters the material. Hallie has created individualized learning plans across all academic disciplines to specifically target skills to support each child’s learning. In her tutoring work, Hallie uses a collaborative approach with students and their families to create robust teaching plans with measurable goals that ensure a child’s success. For example, some students may experience challenges with reading and need support with letter and sound identification, word decoding, and text comprehension. Additionally, students may need reinforcement with number recognition, counting, and manipulating numbers. Hallie values teamwork with teachers, special educators, learning specialists, educational experts, and most importantly her students and their families to devise individualized learning plans to support a child’s success and promote their independence and self-confidence.
